Continuous Learning
This occurs when the campus is open and school is in session, but a student cannot attend school because of a health-related, visa, or other unavoidable matter and this is supported by a doctor’s note or relevant supporting documentation.
Parent expectations:
Inform attendance@fis.edu that your child will have extended absence. Parents seeking advice should contact karen_mcewan@fis.edu. While we encourage students who are unwell to stay home, learning should take place when they are well enough to participate fully.
Student expectations:
Review the work of the week on Canvas to make note of Due Dates and check email at the beginning of each day.
Attend synchronous (Google Meet) meetings (when scheduled) as the teacher may bring the student into the class for group work, partner work, or to check in on how they are doing.
Use their time at home to complete the set work asynchronously by the end of the school day or by set due date/time.
Advocate for themselves by asking questions or seeking help via email.
Respond to emails from teachers within one school day
Teacher expectations:
Provide access to lesson activities via Canvas for each day/task. (week-at-a-glance whenever possible)
