Wiesbaden Campus
Continuous Learning
This occurs when the campus is open and school is in session, but a student cannot attend school because of a health-related, visa, or other unavoidable matter and this is supported by a doctor’s note or relevant supporting documentation.
Parent expectations FS-8:
The parent will inform the homeroom teacher if their child will need to access learning from home. This may be the case if the child is quarantined and must stay at home. If the child is too ill to come to school, the parent should not expect the child to participate in Continuous Learning, but allow rest and recovery for a quick return to campus.
If the child only has mild symptoms of illness and would normally come to school if we were not adhering to current health regulations, the parent can request that the child engage in Continuous Learning at home. It is not a requirement that students engage in Continuous Learning, but is provided upon parent request.
Students Expectations FS- 5:
Participate in Continuous Learning as communicated by the school. If a FS-Grade 5 student is staying home as a precaution due to very mild illness, it is not expected that they engage in asynchronous Continuous Learning. However, if requested by parents, and asynchronous learning is provided, we expect the students to participate to the best of their ability. If a student is quarantined, we expect them to participate to the best of their ability.
Teacher expectations Grades FS- 5:
When requested, FS-Grade 5 teachers provide asynchronous learning activities as appropriate, or provide other relevant work.
Provide live instruction via Google Meet when it is appropriate.
Student expectations 6-8:
Review the work of the week on Canvas to make note of Due Dates and check email at the beginning of each day.
Attend synchronous (Google Meet) meetings (when scheduled) as the teacher may bring the student into the class for group work, partner work, or to check in on how they are doing.
Use their time at home to complete the set work asynchronously by the end of the school day or by set due date/time.
Advocate for themselves by asking questions or seeking help via email.
To follow all of the Google Meet agreements and to engage appropriately on all CLP platforms.
Teacher expectations 6-8:
Teachers are not expected to offer a hybrid class but may include a student in a Google Meet lesson if appropriate and feasible. Teachers are to communicate with students what is expected, how to access work, and how to submit assignments. Teachers are able to decide to alter assignments to meet the students’ learning conditions as long as the same learning objectives are met.
Distance Learning
This occurs when the school is mandated or has decided to close the campus for a grade level, division, or school. Each division follows its own Distance Learning Plan.
Parent expectations:
In the event of a class or grade level quarantine, attend the parent information session or listen to the recording of this session before beginning the DLP with their child.
Support their child in engaging in the DLP
Communicate with the homeroom teacher or advisory teacher with any questions or concerns
Contact the ICT department with any technical issues or problems
Student expectations:
Grades First Steps - Grade 1:
Grade 1: Children are required to participate in the DLP with parent support as needed.
Primary: Children are encouraged to participate in the DLP, to the best of their ability, with as much independence as possible.
First Steps and Pre Primary children's engagement in the DLP is negotiated with the family.
Grades 2-5:

To follow all of the Google Meet agreements and to engage appropriately on all DLP platforms.

Teacher expectations FS-5:
To plan the first day as an asynchronous learning day and to issue an information communication to parents, sent via the Principal.
To provide the DLP as outlined by the school
Make asynchronous work available using the standard schedule template for Day 1 and invite students to join the full DLP which includes some live instruction on Google Meet beginning on Day 2.
Teacher expectations 6-8:

Create asynchronous lessons to allow for work to be accomplished, but also to allow for one on one office hours.
Strongly consider no homework. The work of the lesson is the work.
Read and respond to emails from students/parents within one school day.
